Livelihood Improvement of Poor Farmers through Goat Rearing

The present research was carried out to investigate the feeding and management practices of goat as well income livelihood improvement farmers through rearing. For this experiment, a total 45 respondents were randomly selected from three unions (Gazir Bhita, Kaichapur Narail) Haluaghat Upazila in Mymensingh district where 15 each unionwere chosen. data collected personal interviewing with pre-tested questionnaires. study revealed that found either primary (46.7%) or below SSC (35.6%) levelof education.Majority them engaged agricultural operation (57.8%) others wereinvolved service andbusiness. mainly depend on green grasses (33.3%) tree leaves (31.1%) feed their goats. Wheat bran also given by 35.6% for economic rearing goats experimentalareas. majordiseases goatsin studied areas skin disease(73.3%) PPR (26.7%), respectively.The annual cost production pergoat was2154.00BDT, while gross return net goatrearing per household 4296.00BDT 2142.00BDT, respectively. Annual food purchasing capacity changes 50 55 percent. social statusof farmer’s family increases educational status, employment men, women, dignity andsocial acceptance increased by35, 24, 58, 26 23% after 12 months selectedareas. results clearly indicatethat upazila very much profitable. Considering all these parameters, it is families which reared have most rapid terms improvement.
